Aoun explained during a dinner hosted in his honor by the Lebanese Ambassador to the United States, Nada Hamadeh Moawad, during his visit to Washington, that disarming Hezbollah remains attainable if there is genuine intent to end the Israeli occupation and enable the Lebanese Army to exert full and exclusive control over Lebanese territory, according to a statement by the Lebanese Presidency.

The Lebanese President pointed out that addressing the issue of Hezbollah’s weapons also requires launching a reconstruction program managed directly by the Lebanese state as part of the path toward stabilizing the country.

Earlier, during his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump, Aoun stressed the necessity of a full Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory, emphasizing that this step represents a fundamental prerequisite for solidifying stability and enabling the state to impose its full sovereignty.

In a statement, the Lebanese Presidency noted that Aoun highlighted full Israeli withdrawal as a pivotal step for the Lebanese state to extend its sovereignty using exclusively its own forces, reiterating adherence to this demand.

The Lebanese President also underscored the importance of moving forward with the implementation of the tripartite joint framework, referring to the framework agreement between Lebanon and Israel brokered by the United States.
