The Syrian General Authority for Ports and Customs announced on Tuesday the seizure of a shipment of bombs hidden inside a car that was heading to Lebanon through the Jdeidet Yabous customs border post in the Damascus countryside.

The Authority stated in a press release that the seized items included 226 RGC-type hand grenades, which were meticulously concealed within secret compartments fabricated inside the vehicle's body to smuggle them into Lebanese territory.
The Jdeidet Yabous customs office published a video on its social media accounts showing the search of the vehicle at the border crossing, where sniffer dogs were able to detect the secret compartments where the bombs were hidden.
This announcement comes days after Syrian authorities reported thwarting an attempt to smuggle a large shipment of weapons across the border with Iraq. Authorities stated that shipment included specialized weapons and long-range missiles intended for smuggling to Hezbollah in Lebanon.
