The Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Naim Qassem, called for indirect negotiations with Israel, arguing that the current confrontation aims to subjugate Lebanon and make it part of a “Greater Israel.”

In a message addressed to the group’s fighters, Qassem stressed that Hezbollah “will not submit or surrender” and will continue defending Lebanon and its people regardless of how long the conflict lasts or the scale of sacrifices involved.
He stated that “the resistance will not leave the battlefield and will turn it into hell for Israel,” adding that the group would not return to the pre-March 2, 2026 situation, describing this stance as a response to what he called ongoing aggression and violations.
Regarding negotiations with Israel, Qassem advocated for indirect talks, saying that “the cards of strength must remain in the hands of the Lebanese negotiator.” He criticized direct negotiations, describing them as offering pure gains to Israel and free concessions from the Lebanese authorities.
Qassem also emphasized that no external party should interfere in matters related to weapons, resistance, or the organization of Lebanon’s internal affairs, saying these are purely domestic Lebanese issues and not part of negotiations with Israel.
He said responsibility for negotiations aimed at achieving Lebanon’s sovereign objectives remains with the Lebanese state, adding that Hezbollah is prepared to cooperate in achieving five key goals:
Ending Israeli military actions against Lebanon by land, sea, and air
Liberating occupied territories
Deployment of the Lebanese army south of the Litani River
Release of detainees
Return of displaced persons and reconstruction efforts
Qassem also said that a potential Iranian-American agreement that includes ending attacks on Lebanon could be one of the strongest avenues for halting the conflict. He thanked Iran for its support and interest in Lebanon and its people, stating that any party helping to stop the conflict would be appreciated.
Addressing the group’s fighters, he said they would either remain on the battlefield or be regarded as martyrs, while praising the resilience and sacrifices of civilians displaced by the conflict.
He concluded by reaffirming that the resistance would remain engaged in the confrontation until its objectives are achieved.
