The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced on Wednesday that it had launched a drone attack targeting a U.S. military base in Bahrain.
Iranian media also reported that several U.S. bases in the region had been targeted in response to recent American strikes in southern Iran.
The Revolutionary Guard said that the U.S. attacks caused damage to a communications tower in Sirik and destroyed two water storage tanks.
According to Iranian media reports, the Revolutionary Guard stated that clashes are ongoing and warned of more severe responses should U.S. military operations continue.
The United States announced strikes against Iran on Tuesday following the downing of a U.S. Apache helicopter by Iran on Monday, just hours after U.S. President Donald Trump said negotiators had reached the final stages of talks aimed at securing an agreement to end the conflict in the Middle East.
In a post on X, United States Central Command said that U.S. forces had begun “self-defense strikes against Iran at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time, under the direction of the Commander-in-Chief, in response to the downing of a U.S. Army Apache helicopter the previous day.”
CENTCOM added that the operation constituted “a proportionate response to unprovoked Iranian aggression.”
