The IRGC claims the missile strike specifically targeted "the espionage headquarters of Israel’s Mossad in Iraq’s Kurdistan," resulting in the destruction of the facility. The attack was stated to be a response to recent actions by the Israeli occupation, including the killing of IRGC and resistance commanders in Syria, Lebanon, and Iran.

Three Reuters sources reported that Erbil Airport suspended air traffic due to the missile strikes. Additionally, the IRGC asserted launching attacks in Syria against leaders and terrorist gatherings responsible for planning the Kerman attack in Iran.
