UNICEF: Malnutrition Rising Among Yemen’s Children

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) said Friday that cases of acute malnutrition are increasing among children in Yemen, including the most severe cases, as fighting in the country disrupts access to healthcare and treatment centers.

“We are deeply concerned about the clear increase in acute malnutrition among children,” UNICEF Representative in Yemen Achim Ayer told reporters in Geneva via video link from Aden.

The renewed fighting is making it increasingly difficult for children and families to access essential healthcare and nutrition services, according to UNICEF.
