The coalition's official spokesperson, Major General Turki Al-Maliki, wrote on X: “Air defence systems intercepted and destroyed two ballistic missiles launched by the terrorist Houthi militia towards Riyadh.”
In a separate post on Sunday, Al-Maliki announced that two cruise missiles had also been intercepted and destroyed in the Riyadh and Southern regions.
Saudi Arabia's Civil Defence had issued an early warning alert in Riyadh on Sunday morning before announcing, minutes later, that the danger had passed.
Just hours earlier, the Coalition to Support Legitimacy had reported intercepting and destroying a Houthi drone heading towards the Saudi capital.
The Houthi militia continues its hostile attempts to target holy sites, civilian infrastructure and civilians in Saudi Arabia.
