Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Tuesday that two oil tankers caught fire following explosions as they attempted to transit the southern route of the Strait of Hormuz.

In a press statement, the IRGC said the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed as long as U.S. operations in the region continue, noting that "two oil tankers attempting to pass through the unsafe southern route of the Strait of Hormuz were stopped after explosions caused massive fires onboard."
The statement added that the IRGC targeted two air defense systems and a radar station at two different sites in Bahrain, stating that "with this radar destruction, preparations must be made for more decisive and powerful waves of drone and missile attacks."
Meanwhile, the General Command of the Bahrain Defence Force declared that Iran is continuing its "systematic hostile behavior" through sinful attacks targeting civilians in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
This comes amid ongoing military escalation in the region for over 10 days, with several regional countries subjected to Iranian strikes targeting civilian areas and various facilities, while host countries and air defenses reported intercepting Iranian drones and missiles.
War broke out on February 28 when Israel and the United States attacked Iran, prompting Tehran to retaliate by closing the Strait of Hormuz—which, prior to the conflict, served as the primary waterway for roughly a fifth of the world's energy supply.
The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the central flashpoints of the conflict. Iran's control over the strait has granted it immense leverage, effectively providing Tehran with a major bargaining chip.
