A weather depression accompanied by heavy rainfall on Tuesday caused the flooding of dozens of Palestinian displaced persons’ tents in the Mawasi area of Khan Yunis, southern Gaza Strip, raising concerns of a looming humanitarian crisis.

Eyewitnesses told Anadolu Agency that floodwaters swept away some tents and destroyed them, while others were blown away by strong winds.
Saeb Laqan, spokesperson for Khan Yunis Municipality, described the situation as “extremely catastrophic,” noting that the destruction of most roads, water networks, and sewage systems by Israeli occupation forces has severely affected the city’s rainwater drainage system.
