Hamas stated in a press release on Sunday that it had made contact with the U.S. administration in recent days. The movement expressed high positivity and announced that the Israeli soldier, dual U.S.-Israeli citizen Aidan Alexander, would be released as part of steps toward a ceasefire, opening crossings, and allowing humanitarian aid to reach the people of Gaza.

The movement also confirmed its readiness to immediately begin intensive negotiations and make serious efforts to reach a final agreement for the cessation of hostilities, an agreed-upon prisoner exchange, and the management of the Gaza Strip by an independent professional body. This, it said, would ensure lasting peace and stability for many years, alongside reconstruction and the lifting of the blockade.
