The National Center for Security and Crisis Management urged picnickers during the weekend holiday to avoid lighting fires in forested areas or locations with dry grass, and not to leave barbecue embers burning when leaving picnic sites, stressing the need to extinguish them properly.
In safety guidelines issued for outings and recreational trips, the center also warned against throwing cigarette butts along roadsides or in forests, and against keeping flammable materials inside vehicles.
It emphasized the importance of avoiding swimming in agricultural ponds and dams due to the risk of drowning, and recommended keeping a fire extinguisher inside vehicles for emergency use.
The center further stressed maintaining cleanliness at tourist and picnic sites and avoiding littering, urging citizens to call the unified emergency number 911 when needed.
Meanwhile, the External Patrol Department called on drivers to adhere to traffic laws during the weekend holiday and avoid dangerous violations to ensure public safety.
