AMMAN — The Australian government has discussed concerns with Israeli officials regarding the “inflammatory” statements made by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich about the Palestinian people, according to international news outlets.اضافة اعلان

Smotrich had said during an event in Paris last week that there is “no such thing as a Palestinian people”.

The minister has been known to make other offensive remarks, having said a few weeks prior that the Palestinian town of Huwara in the West Bank should be “erased”.

One source who preferred not to be named said Australian officials had expressed to senior Israeli counterparts concerns about Smotrich’s “inflammatory and irresponsible” comments.

Australia has called on Israeli and Palestinian leaders to abstain from any unilateral actions that would undermine the prospects of a future two-state solution, urging them to work together to promote the conditions for peace and, ultimately, return to direct negotiations.
