Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Sunday that Iran and the United Arab Emirates want to “turn the page” on their recent tensions.
Speaking a day after meeting Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the sidelines of the BRICS leaders’ summit in India, Pezeshkian said: “We had a constructive discussion with the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi.” He added: “We agreed to turn the page, look to the future and build it together.”

The UAE announced in August 2026 that it had suspended all activities, trade exchanges and financial transactions with Iran.
Iran and the UAE on Saturday endorsed a joint BRICS statement calling for restraint in the ongoing war in the Middle East, in a move seen as a sign of diplomatic progress between the two countries, whose positions had diverged over the conflict.
The Abu Dhabi government’s media office said in a post on X that the two leaders discussed a number of regional and international issues, de-escalation, stability, and efforts to advance peace and development in the region, without providing details of any outcomes from the talks.
