The Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy said in a statement: "In light of the heinous Iranian aggression against the State of Kuwait, another electrical power and water desalination plant was subjected to a hostile attack. This resulted in a fire in one of the station's components, prompting precautionary operational measures, including disconnecting several generation units to ensure the safety of the plant and its workers, and to maintain the stability of the electrical grid."
This marks the second targeting of a power and desalination plant within two days, following Kuwait's announcement on Friday that one of its stations was hit by an Iranian attack that caused a fire and damaged facilities and units.
Kuwait Airways also announced on Saturday that it has "rescheduled most of its flights due to the temporary suspension of takeoffs and landings at Kuwait International Airport, following hostile missile and drone attacks stemming from the Iranian aggression."
In Bahrain, the military announced on Saturday that it intercepted new Iranian attacks, while an AFP correspondent in Manama reported hearing several explosions in the morning.
The Bahrain Defence Force stated: "Air defense systems of the Bahrain Defence Force successfully confronted, intercepted, and destroyed a number of treacherous Iranian aerial attacks today, Saturday."
Since dawn on Saturday, the Bahraini Ministry of Interior issued five separate alerts on X, sounding sirens and urging "citizens and residents to remain calm, head to the nearest safe location, and follow updates through official channels."
