U.S. President Donald Trump said on Sunday that he has a list of three potential candidates to lead Iran following an unprecedented attack carried out jointly with Israel against the Islamic Republic.
In remarks to The New York Times, Trump stated that he has “three very good candidates” to lead Iran but declined to reveal their names, saying, “I will not disclose them now. Let’s finish the job first.”
Trump indicated that the United States had struck hundreds of targets, including facilities affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, air defense systems, nine vessels, and a naval headquarters.
He confirmed that combat operations are ongoing and will continue until all objectives are achieved, noting that three U.S. soldiers had been killed and that further casualties among American forces are likely.
Trump also warned that the Iranian regime, armed with long-range missiles and nuclear weapons, poses a serious threat to every American, stressing that the United States would avenge its fallen troops.
