Bello said: “According to information from the prosecutor's office, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs received the extradition request from U.S. authorities on August 19.”
He added that the defense team has not yet received any official documents regarding the matter, which led them to file a petition for the immediate release of Kasatkin. A hearing to review the request is scheduled for August 27.
Kasatkin was arrested on June 21 at Paris Airport at the request of the United States, which accuses him of being part of a cybercriminal network specializing in ransomware software and ransom negotiations within the network’s operations.
