French singer Catherine Ringer has died at the age of 68, following a battle with cancer, her family told AFP on Tuesday.
The family of the singer from the band "Les Rita Mitsouko" said in a statement: "With deep sadness and grief, the family and friends of Catherine Ringer announce her sudden death following her battle with cancer, on the night of September 14, 2026."

In the early 1980s, Ringer founded the rock band "Les Rita Mitsouko" with her partner, guitarist Fred Chichin, who died in 2007.
The band achieved widespread fame over the years thanks to a number of its songs, including "Andy," "C'est comme ça," and "Les Histoires d'A finissent mal en général," in addition to "Marcia Baila," which tells the story of Argentine dancer Marcia Moretto.
Ringer's family said: "The prominent French artist Catherine Ringer left her mark on several generations through her voice and songs, her great freedom, and her unique style."
Ringer was born on October 18, 1957, in the Paris suburbs, to a painter father and an architect mother. She left school at the age of fifteen, before going on to explore various artistic fields.
In 1979, she met Fred Chichin, who became her artistic partner and companion in "Les Rita Mitsouko" for decades.
After Chichin's death at 53, also from cancer, Ringer initially withdrew from the stage, before gradually returning to continue the "Les Rita Mitsouko" journey.
