The feature allows users to share their avatars, tag friends in text prompts, and create content featuring multiple people’s digital likenesses in a single image or video.
How to create your Gemini avatar
Gemini allows users to create a personal avatar using recordings of their face and voice. The AI then uses these recordings as a reference to replicate their appearance and voice in generated content.
To set up an avatar, users should visit the Gemini website at gemini.google.com, go to the prompt box at the bottom of the page, click “Add Files,” then “More,” and select “Avatar.”
A QR code will then appear. Users can scan it with their phones and follow the on-screen instructions to record a short video showing their face while speaking. Gemini requires both visual and voice recordings.
For the best results, Google recommends recording in a quiet room with balanced lighting on the face not too bright or too dim. Users are also advised to avoid wearing sunglasses, hats or anything else that obscures their facial features.
Once the recording is complete, users can return to their computers and select the option to use their avatar to finish the setup process.
After creating an avatar, users can tag it in text prompts by typing the @ symbol followed by their Google Account username. The same method can be used to tag friends whose avatars they have shared with them.
Google provides further details on creating personal avatars through its official support page.
