The film “Assad,” starring Mohamed Ramadan, topped the Egyptian box office on its opening day after its release during Tuesday evening screenings, amid expectations of strong audience turnout in the coming days, particularly as it is a big-budget historical production.اضافة اعلان

Film distributor Mahmoud El-Dafrawy revealed the movie’s opening-day performance, stating that “Assad” earned 1.75 million Egyptian pounds, with ticket sales exceeding 10,800 admissions, and is currently being shown in 67 cinemas across Egypt.

Set in 19th-century Egypt, the film follows the story of Assad, an enslaved man who carries a fierce inner determination. The drama unfolds when a forbidden and secret love affair develops between him and a free woman, placing him in direct conflict with the social order. The struggle goes beyond love and defiance of convention when Assad loses what is most precious to him, transforming his silent resistance into burning anger that drives him into a fierce and courageous confrontation, with the fate of his group’s freedom depending on his resilience.

The film is scheduled for release in Saudi Arabia and across the Arab world on 21 May.

Meanwhile, on the same opening day, “El Kalam Ala Eih?” (“What Are We Talking About?”) ranked second at the box office, earning 1.11 million Egyptian pounds from approximately 7,400 ticket sales, despite screening in only 62 cinemas.

The comedy revolves around the wedding night of four couples from different age groups and social backgrounds, as each pair encounters unexpected comic challenges that turn their ideal evening into chaos and expose the nature of their relationships.
