LOS ANGELES — Mexican-American actress Salma Hayek is celebrating a new family milestone after becoming a grandmother for the first time. Hayek posted a video on her Instagram account showing her cradling her grandson, captioning it: "We are blessed to welcome the 4th living generation of François’s. Even though I’m calling him Panchito, he seems to like it and I couldn’t love him more."
The video generated widespread engagement across social media platforms, surpassing 15 million views and amassing nearly one million likes.
Hayek’s video comes just days after the announcement of the baby's arrival, as the parents had chosen to keep the pregnancy and birth private. According to reports, baby François was born in July, before his mother, Lara, revealed the news through a series of intimate family photos celebrating her and François Pinault Jr.'s transition into parenthood.
In her post, Lara wrote: "My husband, the most wonderful François in the world, and our son, the sweetest François in the world... Our first month as parents."
Lara's reference to François Pinault Jr. as "my husband" drew public attention, as the couple had previously only announced their engagement—suggesting a private wedding had taken place. Lara also updated her social media profile handle to Lara Cosima Pinault.
Lara Cosima Henckel von Donnersmarck holds the title of Countess, belonging to an aristocratic German family bearing the Henckel von Donnersmarck title.
Salma Hayek married French businessman François-Henri Pinault in Paris in 2009, two years after the birth of their daughter, Valentina Paloma Pinault, who is now 18 years old.
Hayek has previously spoken about her close relationship with her husband’s three children from previous relationships, emphasizing that she considers them all part of her immediate family.
"I always wanted to have a lot of children, and I was not able to. My body, as a miracle, had one," Hayek stated in previous interviews. "The huge blessing I had is that my husband has three other children. So I have four. And they are all so different."
