The project aims to enhance infrastructure readiness for generation projects and raise the efficiency of the electrical power system in the Kingdom.

The agreement was signed by NEPCO Director General Sufyan Bataineh and Fajr Jordanian-Egyptian CEO Yasser Salah El-Din. This agreement represents a critical stage in securing natural gas supplies for the project according to the highest standards of reliability and operational readiness.

Timeline and Operational Goals
Work under the agreement is expected to be completed by mid-2027, aligning with the power plant project’s readiness for operational testing. This synchronization will contribute to improved operational efficiency and the optimal utilization of energy resources.

Bataineh previously noted in a press statement that the Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) project (IPP7), recently approved by the Cabinet, is one of the most prominent strategic projects to strengthen the Kingdom's power grid.

Strategic Impact
Energy Demand: The project is expected to enter commercial operation between 2027 and 2028, meeting approximately 10% of the Kingdom's total electrical energy demand.

System Reliability: It will enhance security of supply and improve the efficiency and reliability of the national electrical system.

Sustainability: The initiative supports the national transition toward a more sustainable energy mix.
