The decision was made during the Board’s meeting on Monday, chaired by the Minister of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs and Holy Places, Dr. Mohammad Al-Khalaileh. He explained that the Eid grant will be deposited into the beneficiaries’ bank accounts alongside their monthly assistance payments.
Al-Khalaileh stated that the total cost of the shopping vouchers, amounting to 360,000 dinars, will be distributed in cooperation with the Military Consumer Corporation across various regions of the Kingdom. The plan also includes distributing 40,000 food parcels through Zakat committees, funded by in-kind donations and the Fund’s accounts during the holy month.
The plan further includes distributing Zakat al-Fitr to eligible recipients at the end of Ramadan.
He added that the initiative covers the delivery of 15 income-generating rehabilitation projects at a cost of 45,000 dinars, as well as the renovation of six homes and maintenance of ten others for underprivileged families, with a total cost of 45,000 dinars.
It was also decided to host an Iftar banquet for approximately 3,000 orphans and their families across various governorates in observance of the Day of the Orphan in the Islamic World, which falls on the 15th of Ramadan. Additionally, a special Iftar will be organized for 300 orphans and their families, along with the distribution of cash and in-kind gifts at an estimated cost of 10,000 dinars.
Al-Khalaileh announced the launch of a media campaign encouraging citizens to fulfill their Zakat obligations. A Friday sermon during the holy month will be dedicated to highlighting the virtue of Zakat and charity and their role in strengthening social solidarity. He also warned against interacting with suspicious links requesting personal data under the pretext of providing assistance, urging citizens to rely only on official channels for information.
