Data released by analytics firms on Thursday showed that a QatarEnergy liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker sailed out of the Strait of Hormuz overnight, becoming the first vessel of its kind observed leaving the waterway since July 11.
According to data from Kpler and the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), the tanker Al Areesh, which loaded its cargo at Qatar’s Ras Laffan terminal between approximately July 4 and 6, sailed out of the strait overnight on July 29.
LSEG data showed that the vessel is currently heading to Port Qasim in Pakistan and is expected to arrive on July 31.
It marks the first time a QatarEnergy LNG tanker has exited the Strait of Hormuz since the tanker Al Rekayyat was attacked in early July.
The previous LNG tanker to leave the strait was Al Hamra, which sailed on July 11 carrying a cargo loaded at Das Island in the United Arab Emirates, according to Kpler data.
Data from Kpler and LSEG also showed that the LNG tanker Marrouh, which was last observed outside the Strait of Hormuz on July 24, reappeared inside the strait on Thursday.
QatarEnergy and ADNOC did not immediately respond to requests for comment outside business hours.
Kpler data showed that 12 commodity-carrying vessels passed through the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday, with six vessels entering and six others exiting. The figure was higher than during the previous two days.
