Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Eng. Sami Samirat, concluded an official working visit to Damascus, Syria, accompanied by a high-level government delegation including the ministry’s Secretary-General, the CEO of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission, the heads of the National Cybersecurity Council and the National Cybersecurity Center, representatives from the Jordanian Production Association, and several Jordanian companies.

The visit included a series of extensive meetings and discussions, including a meeting with Syrian Minister of Communications and Technology, Abdul Salam Heikal, as well as engagements with academic institutions, startups, and the telecommunications and cybersecurity sectors in Syria. The delegation also actively participated in the Jordan-Syria Business Forum.
The Jordanian and Syrian ministers jointly inaugurated the HITCH Information and Communications Technology Exhibition in Damascus, featuring broad participation from Jordanian and Syrian companies. The exhibition provided a shared platform to showcase technological opportunities and strengthen connections between entrepreneurs and companies in both countries.
Discussions during the meetings focused on opportunities for cooperation in digital transformation, telecommunications infrastructure, cybersecurity, and the digital economy, as well as enhancing innovation to support startups and empower young technical talents.
The visit also explored ways to activate public-private partnerships and expand collaboration opportunities between digital institutions in both countries, aiming to improve services, develop the digital economy, and stimulate the business environment.
Samirat stated that the visit reflects the depth of cooperation between Jordan and Syria in telecommunications and digital transformation and paves the way for a new phase of technical partnerships based on knowledge exchange and complementary capabilities.
He expressed pride in the achievements of Jordanian companies in cybersecurity, digital services, e-commerce, game design, and artificial intelligence, noting that the visit was driven by a genuine desire to build partnerships with Syrian counterparts and open new horizons for cooperation and investment.
