The project will be funded by a grant of USD 1.7 million from the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and implemented under the management of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), in cooperation with the UNDP, will oversee the implementation of project activities to achieve global environmental benefits related to biodiversity protection and climate change mitigation.

This project seeks to establish an integrated institutional and legislative framework for the blue economy, enhance national capacities, encourage private sector participation, and promote innovative partnerships supported by new incentive mechanisms to ensure environmental sustainability.
