The digital ID will serve as an equivalent alternative to the traditional national ID card when conducting banking transactions and services. This step comes as part of the Central Bank’s broader efforts to enhance digital transformation and develop the financial services infrastructure.
The move aligns with ongoing initiatives to automate and digitize banking operations, contributing to improved operational efficiency, simplified procedures, and a better customer experience. It also aims to enhance security and reliability in identity verification using the latest approved digital technologies.
According to the Central Bank, the adoption of the digital ID enables customers to complete their banking transactions easily and securely by presenting their digital identity through the Sanad app, without the need to provide a physical ID card. Secure and certified electronic verification mechanisms will ensure data integrity and protection.
The Central Bank further affirmed that it will continue working in cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship and relevant institutions to further develop the digital financial services ecosystem, in line with the government’s comprehensive digital transformation vision.
