On Monday, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Toukan signed a financing agreement worth $28 million with the CEO of the Saudi Fund for Development, Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al-Marshad, to complete the equipment for Princess Basma Hospital. The Fund had previously provided a $70 million grant to contribute to the hospital’s construction in Irbid Governorate.

Minister Toukan expressed her appreciation for the continued support provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia throughout years of distinguished bilateral relations, affirming that the Saudi Fund for Development is a key partner in Jordan’s development journey. She noted that the project will help enhance the quality of healthcare and expand specialized medical services in northern Jordan, strengthening the healthcare sector’s ability to meet citizens’ needs. The project also aligns with the Economic Modernization Vision, which places improving the healthcare sector among its main pillars through infrastructure development and enhancing the quality of health services.
For his part, Sultan Al-Marshad, CEO of the Saudi Fund for Development, emphasized that the agreement reflects the close developmental cooperation between the two sides and the Fund’s contributions to financing the construction and development of Princess Basma Hospital. The project aims to equip various medical and consultancy specialties to provide integrated healthcare, enhance the efficiency of health infrastructure, and facilitate access to specialized medical services.
