Russia: Economic Slowdown to Continue Through 2026

Russia is expected to experience a continued economic slowdown during the first half of 2026, according to Maxim Reshetnikov, Minister of Economy.

Speaking at a press conference, Reshetnikov cited escalating domestic pressures and ongoing Western restrictions affecting key sectors, including energy, industry, and financial transfers, as primary factors behind the slowdown.

He emphasized that the government is closely monitoring economic indicators, stating that fiscal and monetary policies will remain focused on containing inflation, supporting supply chains, boosting domestic production, and reducing dependence on imports.
