Jordanian Customs Revenues Exceed JD 1.7 Billion in 2024
Total Jordanian customs revenues for 2024 reached approximately JD 1.788 billion, compared with around JD 1.777 billion in 2023, marking an increase of about JD 10.5 million, or 1%, according to the 2024 annual report of the Jordan Customs Department.اضافة اعلان

Customs revenues in 2024 were divided as follows: general revenue amounted to JD 1.734 billion, up JD 4.1 million from 2023, accounting for 97% of total customs revenues.

Breaking down general revenue in 2024, sales tax collections totaled JD 1.073 billion, a decline of JD 29.5 million compared with 2023.

Collections of the unified customs tariff reached JD 212 million, customs service fees JD 179.88 million, other departmental fees (excluding sales tax) JD 149.8 million, customs endeavors JD 84 million, customs fines and confiscations JD 31.4 million, and other miscellaneous fees JD 3.57 million.

Deposits held by the Customs Department amounted to JD 6.85 million, while deposits with the Ministry of Finance totaled JD 47.1 million.

According to revenue distribution by customs centers, Aqaba Customs ranked first with JD 586.3 million (32.8% of total collections), followed by Amman Customs with JD 326.6 million (18.3%), Zarqa Free Zone Customs “Vehicles” with JD 244.9 million (13.7%), Zizya Airport Clearance Customs with JD 200.6 million, and Omari Customs with JD 80.9 million (4.5%).

Customs Exemptions
During 2024, around 89.3% of total imports (excluding oil and its derivatives) were exempted from customs duties.

Imports exempted under agreements amounted to JD 3.967 billion, or 31.6% of total exempted imports.

Imports exempted under Cabinet decisions, special laws, concession companies, or entities exempt from duties (excluding oil and its derivatives) totaled JD 2.162 billion, or 17.2% of exempted imports.

Imports exempted under tariff schedules amounted to JD 6.418 billion, representing 51.2% of total exempted imports.

Additionally, the Customs Department provides exemptions for projects benefiting from Investment Law No. 30 of 2014, with exemptions on customs duties and taxes within the investment environment amounting to around JD 291.5 million, and exemptions for Attarat Energy Company totaling JD 13.9 million, among others.
