His Majesty King Abdullah II received today, Tuesday, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Dr. Barham Saleh.
His Majesty congratulated the High Commissioner on his election to the new position, wishing him success.

The meeting discussed ways to expand cooperation between Jordan and UNHCR, with His Majesty stressing the importance of continued support for host communities that shelter refugees.
For his part, the High Commissioner expressed his appreciation for Jordan’s efforts in hosting refugees and providing them with essential services.
The meeting also addressed key regional developments, emphasizing the importance of facilitating mechanisms for the safe and voluntary return of Syrian refugees.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, Director of His Majesty’s Office Engineer Alaa Batayneh, and the accompanying delegation.
