The source, aligned with the Yemeni government and speaking anonymously to the German Press Agency (DPA), said: “A US drone targeted a motorcycle carrying Munir Al-Ahdal, also known as ‘Abu Al-Hija Al-Hadidi,’ in the Al-Husoun area of Wadi Abidah, killing him and his personal companion instantly.”
Al-Ahdal was considered one of the organization’s prominent leaders and was involved in numerous “terrorist” operations over the past years across various Yemeni governorates.
No official comment has been released regarding the operation.
For years, US drones have carried out airstrikes targeting Al-Qaeda leaders and members in several Yemeni governorates, including Marib, Shabwa, and Abyan in southern and eastern Yemen, areas where the group remains active. (Agencies)
