WSJ: No U.S. Plan to Attack Oman Despite Trump’s Remarks
The Wall Street Journal reported that the United States currently has no immediate plan to attack the Sultanate of Oman over its "support for Iran," despite recent threats issued by U.S. officials.اضافة اعلان

Quoting unnamed U.S. officials, the newspaper stated: "There is no immediate plan to attack Oman over its support for Iran, despite Trump’s remarks during a cabinet meeting last week."

Arab officials also told the newspaper that Omani officials were shocked by this sudden U.S. hostility and are currently working on formulating an appropriate response.

According to its sources, the newspaper indicated that Washington has begun interpreting Oman’s approach toward Tehran as hostile. It noted that the U.S. is exerting pressure on Muscat to force it to choose a side in the ongoing Middle East conflict and sever its diplomatic ties with Iran.

The Wall Street Journal pointed out that Washington’s criticism of Muscat is largely due to the absence of an active and influential Omani lobby capable of swaying U.S. decision-makers.

Furthermore, it highlighted that Oman does not hold the same geopolitical weight as other Gulf states allied with the U.S. in terms of oil output, nor does it host a U.S. military base on its territory. This, the paper noted, subjects Oman to a different standard compared to Washington’s other regional allies.

The report concluded by noting that Oman is gradually losing its traditional status as a state accepted by all conflicting parties that seek its cooperation. Meanwhile, aligning with the United States would expose it to the risk of Iranian strikes similar to those suffered by neighboring countries in the context of this conflict.

U.S. President Donald Trump had stated last week that the United States would destroy Oman if it attempted to seize control of the Strait of Hormuz.

In addition, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent warned Muscat that Washington would aggressively pursue anyone who contributes to collecting Iranian transit fees on traffic passing through the strait.
