U.S. President Donald Trump warned that the United States would respond with far greater force if Iran were to halt oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz.
Writing on social media, Trump said that if Iran takes any action to stop the flow of oil through the strait, the United States would strike Iran “twenty times harder than it has been hit so far.”
He added that the United States would target sites that could be easily destroyed, saying this would make it “virtually impossible” for Iran to rebuild as a state. Trump concluded his message by saying he hopes such a scenario will not occur.
Meanwhile, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said early Tuesday that Iran will determine how the war ends, responding to Trump’s statements about the progress of military operations.
The IRGC also declared Iran’s readiness to confront the U.S. fleet in the Strait of Hormuz, warning that Tehran would not allow “a single liter of oil” to be exported from the region if U.S. and Israeli attacks continue.
In addition, the Revolutionary Guard accused Trump of attempting to mislead public opinion and escape the pressure of war, claiming what it described as “defeats suffered by the U.S. military.”
It also said Trump had tried to force Iran into a rapid surrender at minimal cost by assassinating Iranian leaders, but asserted that this attempt had failed.
