U.S. President Donald Trump announced early Saturday that he had signed an executive order imposing a new 10% international tariff on all countries, after the Supreme Court struck down the comprehensive global tariffs he had previously imposed, which formed a cornerstone of his economic agenda.

On his Truth Social platform, the U.S. president said: “It is a great honor for me to sign, from the Oval Office, a 10% international tariff that applies to all countries and will take effect almost immediately.”
President Donald Trump had pledged on Friday to impose a 10% tariff on all imports into the United States after the Supreme Court invalidated the broad international tariffs he had introduced as a key pillar of his economic program.
In a decision backed by six justices against three, the conservative-majority court concluded that the 1977 International Emergency Economic Powers Act “does not grant the president the authority to impose tariffs.”
Trump reacted angrily to the ruling by the justices—two of whom he appointed—accusing the court, without providing evidence, of being influenced by “foreign interests.”
“I am very disappointed in some members of the Court, very disappointed,” he told reporters, “for not having the courage to do what is right for our country.”
