In a post on his Truth Social platform on Monday, Trump added that the failure to secure a deal would have "serious consequences," without providing further details.
In a subsequent post, Trump addressed reports circulated by "Fake News Media" claiming that General Daniel Caine opposes going to war with Iran. Trump asserted these reports are "unsourced and 100% false," adding: "I am the decision-maker on Iran, and I would prefer a deal over no deal."
According to Axios, citing two sources familiar with internal discussions, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dan Caine, has warned President Trump and senior officials that a military campaign against Iran could carry significant risks, particularly the potential for entanglement in a long-term conflict.
Axios reported that ongoing high-level debates are taking place within the Trump administration regarding how to manage tensions with Iran and the consequences of each option. While several voices in Trump’s inner circle are calling for caution, some sources believe the President himself is leaning toward a strike.
