The source, who requested anonymity as he is not authorized to speak to the media, stated that “Trump will meet with the leaders of the GCC in Riyadh” with the aim of strengthening “political and economic cooperation.”
In April, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan met with his U.S. counterpart Marco Rubio to discuss the strategic relations between the two countries and ways to enhance and expand them across various fields. They also reviewed regional and international developments, including the situation in Gaza.
Rubio hosted the Saudi Foreign Minister at the U.S. Department of State in Washington on April 10, where the two discussed intensifying joint coordination on regional and global issues of mutual concern — foremost among them developments in Gaza, Sudan, Yemen, and the Russia-Ukraine crisis. They also exchanged views on these matters and ongoing efforts aimed at promoting global peace and security.
The meeting also touched on preparations for President Trump’s upcoming visit to Saudi Arabia in May.
According to the AFP source, the Saudi Foreign Minister’s visit to the U.S. was “linked to preparations for Trump’s visit to Riyadh.”
The meeting was attended by Princess Reema bint Bandar, the Saudi Ambassador to the United States, as well as Prince Musab bin Mohammed Al-Farhan, Political Affairs Advisor to the Foreign Minister, and Advisor Mohammed Al-Yahya.
