Speaking to the American newspaper The New York Times regarding the agreement reached between the United States and Iran on Sunday evening, Trump stated that the deal with Iran will guarantee "permanent free passage" through the Strait of Hormuz.

He vowed that the United States would resume military strikes against Tehran if Iran fails to reach a final nuclear agreement with Washington.

He claimed that the attacks on Iran and the naval blockade imposed upon it after it closed the strait have reshaped the Middle East in a way that serves American interests.

The U.S. President stated that the new understanding with Tehran will ensure that "Iran will be unable to develop or possess a nuclear weapon."

He noted that the issue of Iran suspending its uranium enrichment activities for a period of 20 years is still under negotiation, but clarified that he might also accept a 15-year period.

He mentioned that Iran's capabilities would be restricted to a low level of uranium enrichment that "will never serve military purposes."

He explained that the understanding with Iran was achieved despite the objections of "Israeli Prime Minister" Benjamin Netanyahu.

Trump described Netanyahu as a "very difficult man," adding: "Frankly, he should be very grateful to us for doing this, because if Iran possessed a nuclear weapon, Israel wouldn't have been able to last even two hours."

On Sunday evening, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that an agreement had been reached between Washington and Tehran, which includes ending the war on various fronts, including Lebanon. Meanwhile, Trump confirmed the completion of the agreement, stating that the Strait of Hormuz is now open and that he had ordered the lifting of the naval blockade on Iran.

The United States and "Israel" had commenced a war against Iran on February 28, to which Iran responded with attacks on "Israel" and what it described as American interests in Arab countries.

The two sides reached a temporary truce on April 8 through Pakistani mediation, but negotiations subsequently faltered. Consequently, Washington imposed a blockade on Iranian ports, including those situated on the strategic Strait of Hormuz, which is vital for global energy supplies. Iran reacted by banning the passage of vessels through the strait unless coordinated with its authorities.
