Axios: Trump Told Netanyahu Iran Deal Is Excellent and Time Has Come to End the War

U.S. President Donald Trump told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that a potential agreement with Iran is “excellent” and that the time has come to end the war, according to a U.S. official cited by Axios.

The report said Netanyahu came to realize during his conversation with Trump that he would not be able to prevent the U.S. president from reaching an agreement with Iran.

Axios added that Netanyahu found himself outside the main negotiating process and turned to allies in Washington to gather information about the ongoing talks.

The report also stated that Trump intervened at the last minute to prevent Netanyahu from carrying out major strikes against Iranian infrastructure and energy facilities.

According to Axios, U.S. officials believe Netanyahu could still play a disruptive role even if an agreement with Iran is ultimately reached.
