The Pakistani source added that there is currently no information regarding a possible extension of the ceasefire between the United States and Iran.
Meanwhile, media reports indicated that the participation of both the US and Iranian delegations has been confirmed, noting that preparatory teams have already been present since yesterday to facilitate the talks.
However, Iranian state television reported on Tuesday that no Iranian delegation has departed yet for Pakistan to participate in negotiations with the United States, as the ceasefire deadline approaches.
The broadcaster stated that “no Iranian delegation, whether primary or secondary, has so far left for Islamabad,” denying earlier reports suggesting otherwise.
According to CNN, citing its sources, the second round of US-Iran negotiations is scheduled to take place on the morning of Wednesday, April 22, in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad. The US delegation is expected to be headed by JD Vance, while the Iranian delegation will be led by Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.
It is worth noting that Iran and the United States previously held talks on April 11 in Islamabad, with Ghalibaf leading the Iranian delegation and Vance heading the US side.
Both Tehran and Washington later confirmed that the talks failed to reach a long-term settlement due to several outstanding differences.
