A White House official announced on Wednesday that President Donald Trump’s decision to suspend tariffs for 90 days does not apply to Canada and Mexico.
The official added that the 25% tariffs on goods imported from Mexico and Canada that are not covered by the trilateral free trade agreement remain in effect. Additionally, the 10% tariffs on energy and potash from both countries will also stay in place.
Most goods imported from Mexico and Canada that are included in the trade agreement had previously been exempted from the broader U.S. tariffs.
