India Calls for Pakistan’s Nuclear Arsenal to Be Placed Under IAEA Oversight
Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh stated on Thursday that Pakistan’s nuclear weapons should be placed under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), following last week’s open military confrontation between the two countries.اضافة اعلان

Speaking during a visit to the headquarters of the armed forces in Srinagar, the largest city in Indian-administered Kashmir, Singh said, “Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal must be placed under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency.”

Tensions between the two nuclear powers appear to be easing. On Wednesday, Pakistan returned a border guard who had been apprehended within its territory — a gesture seen as a sign of de-escalation after a four-day conflict that ended with a ceasefire agreement.

The guard was detained a day after the April 22 attack in the Indian-administered side of Kashmir, which left 26 people dead and triggered a wave of retaliatory strikes involving missiles, drones, and fighter jets from both sides.

No group has claimed responsibility for the April 22 attack, but India accused the Pakistan-based group Lashkar-e-Taiba of involvement and held Islamabad accountable for supporting the group. Pakistan denied the allegations and called for an independent investigation.

According to a statement from India’s Border Security Force, the detained guard, Purnam Kumar Shaw — held in Pakistan since April 23, 2025 — was officially handed back to Indian authorities.
