The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a release on Sunday that Minister Badr Abdelatty held separate telephone conversations with U.S. Envoy Steve Witkoff and regional counterparts, including Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, to discuss proposals for de-escalating regional tensions.اضافة اعلان

According to the statement, Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that "the communications addressed the latest developments in the dangerous regional situation, where views and proposals were exchanged on ways to reduce military escalation."

The statement added that Minister Abdelatty emphasized the "necessity of prioritizing wisdom to defuse tension and avoid further escalation and destruction," stressing the importance of "favoring the language of dialogue and diplomacy in a way that preserves the security and stability of the region and achieves the public interest."

Egypt, Turkey, and Pakistan have emerged as mediators in the crisis. Islamabad recently hosted a meeting to discuss de-escalation and proposals for reopening the Strait of Hormuz. — Reuters
