Bulk Carrier Targeted by Projectile Near Strait of Hormuz

A Liberia-flagged bulk carrier, Minyuan Pioneer, was struck by an unidentified projectile near the coast of Oman while transiting the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday, according to maritime security sources. The crew abandoned the vessel, but one seafarer remains missing.اضافة اعلان

British maritime risk management company Vanguard said in a separate statement that the projectile reportedly hit the engine room, triggering a fire in the accommodation area.

"The crew is battling the fire and requires assistance, while the third engineer remains missing," the statement said.

The vessel's operator, Greece-based Modion Maritime Management, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
