AMMAN — The US embassy in Amman is conducting a virtual reporting tour called “Combatting the Climate Crisis through US Innovation,” set to start in May and continue for three weeks.  اضافة اعلان

The training will provide media personnel with the opportunity to gain access to major stories on US climate action and clean energy technology and innovation.

Journalists and media personnel will connect with senior US government officials and on-the-ground experts across the US through approximately three-to-four live virtual briefings per week.

President Joe Biden, on the first day in office, reversed the previous administration’s decision to withdraw from the Paris Accord, indicating a US return to tackle climate issues with a sense of urgency.

The White House announced that President Biden is planning a virtual summit with 40 world leaders at the Leaders Summit on Climate this month.

The statement read: “The Leaders Summit on Climate will underscore the urgency — and the economic benefits — of stronger climate action. It will be a key milestone on the road to the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) this November in Glasgow.”

Around $35 billion is set aside for clean technologies in President Biden’s $2 trillion infrastructure proposal.

The Washington Post has reported that John Kerry, the former secretary of state and current White House climate envoy, said in March that “What we’re trying to do is raise the ambition of many countries, of all countries because we’ve been absent for four years and there’s been an absence of any dialogue on climate — and these countries have all been basically dissed over these last four years — President Biden thought it was important for us to be able to conduct this essential personal diplomacy at this point in time.”
