A security source stated that the causes of congestion at the King Hussein Bridge stem from limited operating hours, restrictions on the number of travelers from the other side, and sudden closures by them under various pretexts, which often leads to delays being carried over to the following day.

The source emphasized that the bridge does not close on the Jordanian side, and staff from all relevant authorities are present 24 hours a day, noting that the bridge handled approximately 2 million travelers—both arrivals and departures—during 2025.
He added: “We have sent prior media messages before any expected congestion this week, due to the return of large numbers of pilgrims and the accompanying increase in traveler flow, to inform them and allow them to arrange their travel schedules in advance. We confirm that we work year-round, during holidays, Eid seasons, Hajj season, and others, to prepare and implement joint plans aimed at easing the burden on travelers, reducing overcrowding, and mitigating the exceptional measures continuously imposed by the other side.”
The source also said that Jordan is taking all possible measures to ease travel, striving to keep the bridge open around the clock, while ongoing work includes comprehensive rehabilitation, infrastructure projects, and future development plans for the bridge.
He concluded: “We monitor all feedback received, verify it, and take any measures that contribute to easing the experience for our traveling brothers.”
