Both sides emphasized the importance of the strong friendship between Jordan and the United States and the need to enhance cooperation across all fields.
Safadi expressed appreciation for the support the United States provides to Jordan, while Rubio affirmed the Kingdom’s key role in efforts to promote security and stability in the region.
The two ministers discussed efforts to reach a ceasefire in Gaza and facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Strip. Safadi reiterated Jordan’s support for the efforts led by the United States, Egypt, and Qatar to broker a prisoner exchange deal that would result in a permanent ceasefire.
They also discussed efforts to de-escalate tensions in the West Bank and reviewed the situation in Syria, particularly the implementation of the tripartite agreement achieved during the Jordanian-hosted U.S.-Jordanian-Syrian talks last Saturday. Safadi stressed the urgent need to solidify the ceasefire in Syria’s southern Sweida province.
Rubio emphasized that dialogue is essential to resolving the crisis in southern Syria and protecting all civilians. Safadi, in turn, underscored the necessity of upholding the ceasefire in Sweida, ensuring humanitarian aid access, protecting civilians, and re-establishing the authority of the Syrian state and the rule of law across all of Syria.
He also stressed the importance of supporting Syria’s reconstruction process based on principles that guarantee its unity, sovereignty, security, stability, and the rights and safety of all Syrians.
Both ministers agreed to maintain coordination and communication to enhance bilateral cooperation and resolve regional crises while reinforcing regional security and stability.
