According to an official source within the Commission, 24 of these cases were referred this year, while 22 cases were transferred to the judiciary in 2024.
The source revealed that 93 municipal employees committed criminal acts in 2025, including felonies such as embezzlement, forgery, use of forged documents, and abuse of office, both in criminal and misdemeanor forms. Additionally, offenses included misuse of authority, neglect of official duties, and the squandering of public funds. In 2024, 43 individuals were involved in similar crimes. Preliminary estimates indicate that the violations and transgressions are worth millions of dinars.
He added that these offenses occurred despite ongoing oversight by regulatory bodies, highlighting the serious implications of municipal administrations failing to adhere to national integrity standards—particularly the rule of law, which is central to good governance.
The source further noted that the rising number of violations within municipalities poses a significant threat to public funds and the quality of services delivered. He emphasized that over 65% of the cases currently under review by the IACC are centered around municipalities, particularly the larger ones.
