AMMAN —
Lower House Chairman of the parliamentary
Agriculture and Water Committee, Mohammed Al-Alaqma, demanded the government
provide the committee with details of the National Water Carrier Project and
the reasons behind its postponement, as well as the government's plans in case
of further delays in implementation.

Alaqma said, "We want to know the reasons for the
delay, the names of the companies that will execute the project, when the bids
will be opened, and the financial closure for the companies bidding," Jo24
News reported.
He also stated that the committee wants to know the
government's contribution to the project and its final costs, considering the
existing grants and figures announced previously, as it is unclear whether the
support is still in place or not.
Alaqma concluded his statement by saying: "There is a
delay in
implementing the project, and we do not know when it will end due to
the continuous postponement of opening bids and financial closure."
