Director of the Jordan Meteorological Department, Raed Al-Khatab, stated that this year’s theme for Arab Meteorology Day, “Meteorology… for Human Safety and Environmental Sustainability,” reflects the pivotal role meteorology plays in protecting lives and property, and in promoting sustainable development strategies.

Al-Khatab explained that the responsibilities of meteorology extend beyond forecasting weather and issuing warnings about hazardous phenomena. They also include monitoring climate changes, supporting agricultural planning, optimizing management of water and energy resources, and providing policymakers with accurate scientific data that contribute to shaping environmental and economic policies.
He noted that commemorating this occasion offers an opportunity to highlight the scientific and technical role of meteorology in Arab countries, enhance joint cooperation and knowledge exchange, and raise public awareness about the importance of following weather bulletins across all areas of life.
