The amendments include updating Article 7 of the original system (No. 101 of 2008) to cover the fourth, fifth, and sixth categories of driving licenses, stipulating that these licenses will be renewed for two years once the driver reaches the age of 65.

Article 9 was also amended to require obtaining an annual driving permit from the Licensing Department for operating public transport vehicles, cargo vehicles, vehicles transporting hazardous or explosive materials, buses, medium-sized buses, and student transport vehicles.

The amendments further mandate that training courses and driving tests must be conducted through the Jordan Traffic Institute or other accredited centers.

The public can submit their feedback on the draft within 10 working days via the Legislation and Opinion Bureau’s website, after which the comments will be reviewed under legal and constitutional frameworks. The system will then be approved and published in the Official Gazette to become legally binding.
